Not good news
So, the bunnies are gone. All of them. I am in despair.

With the weather report being fair and above freezing, I put them all out with mama last night. She apparently uncovered them and scattered them too much when she fed them, and they were cold and truly dead this morning. I spent an hour trying to revive them.

Sometimes the breeding part of this hobby is heart rendering.

Hi Claudia-I am so sorry to hear this-especially after all the work you went to successfully reviving them. It doesn't make a lot of sense as you said-given the good weather forecast. We had a lamb born dead last year and ended up wondering what we could have done differently. End result-probably not much, but it is still upsetting.

Oh Claudia, I am soooooooo sorry to hear about your loss!! I know how much work you put into your breedings and to lose all of those babies is devastating.

I will be thinking good thoughts for you this week.

By the way......Belinda is on the mend and eating like a pig again. Perhaps a little red baby will make it's way over to you this spring :-)

Very sad to read, especially since you got emotionally invested in this litter by finding and reviving them the first time around :(

Oh Claudia, I'm so sorry. Mother Nature isn't a softie. Poor little beasts. I feel bad for the Mama too...I bet she's confused.

Thanks to EVEONE who added their sympathy. Misery does indeed love company.

Mama is, after a few days, back to normal and all is as well as it can be. I, too, am feeling better. But these are the kinds of things that make me cringe when people casually say they are going to breed their favorite rabbits. Many times not a thought is given to WHAT IF things go badly.
